Christmas Tree Decorations

Christmas Tree 2024

Creation of 24 unique designs for the Christmas tree in Biel’s historic old town.

The Christmas tree was decorated with 24 illustrated motifs inspired by landmarks and iconic places in Biel, from the Chessu and the Pavillon to the Stadtkirche. Each motif represents one day of Advent.

The illustrations were created by Rebekka Jegge and laser-cut from wood by AxNum AG in Biel. The wooden ornaments were then hand-painted by participants at the Battenberg Foundation’s day centre, where Rebekka works part-time as an art therapy trainee.

The ornaments were available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the Battenberg Foundation’s day centre. The foundation supports people with special needs, helping them develop their skills and work towards greater independence and employment.
